Coaching Philosophy
Court Vision's training is based on the idea that learning in a challenging, yet fun environment yields the best results. The greatest improvement is seen when passion, hard work, fun, and understanding all mesh together on the court. We pride ourselves on the ability to get the most out of each trainee every time we work with them. This coupled with a unique approach to promote a deeper understanding of the game, has led to great success for all of the players and teams we have worked with.
There have been many changes to the game of basketball over the years. The quality of athlete continues to get better each year, but the teaching of fundamental skills has dropped off significantly. Young players watch NBA and elite college stars and attempt to mimic the skills and moves they see, but most do not understand the years of fundamental groundwork that was laid before these players reached that level. You cannot become a great 3-point shooter before you learn to shoot the right way closer to the basket. You cannot become an elite ballhandler without first understanding and practicing the fundamentals of dribbling. The main problem with young players today is that they set a goal but are not willing to take each step necessary to reach that goal. Steps are skipped and eventually things come crashing down, because the foundation was never set correctly.
One of Coach Ben's favorite quotes comes from legendary coach Bob Knight.
"When a player says to me that they will do better tomorrow, I ask them two questions...How? and Why?"
Coach Knight is saying that you must have a plan to achieve your potential, and Court Vision Basketball Performance will help you create and execute that plan!
"Ben’s practices focused on hard work, basic skills, and concepts that formed the foundation that he continued to build on." - Art Nangle (Father)
